July 2007

Greetings from Inkberry!

Summer afternoon, summer afternoon—Mr. James, I do believe these truly are the two most beautiful words in the English language. The season is already flying by, and we wouldn’t want these glorious months to find you in that comfy garden chair beneath the big blue sky without a good read.

Julia Glass’ novel, The Whole World Over, was released in paperback last month. She’ll be reading for Inkberry this fall alongside novelist Margot Livesey (Banishing Verona, Eva Moves the Furniture). Lois Daunis, proprietor of North Adams’ indy bookstore, Papyri Books www.papyribooks.net, has these titles along with Karen Shepard’s Don’t I Know You, Paul Park’s The White Tyger (the third in his Princess of Roumania series), and Elizabeth Winthrop’s Counting on Grace on her summer list.

Happy reading…

Jill

In the community (Stepping Up for The Write Stuff)

Last fall, when North Adams Transcript www.thetranscript.com editor Glenn Drohan heard about The Write Stuff Program, he asked what he could do to help. On June 23rd, The Transcript printed a full page of student essays and poems generated by students enrolled in the program.

Berkshire Bank www.berkshirebank.com and Citizen’s Bank www.citizensbank.com also stepped up in support The Write Stuff, which reached over fifty 6th and 7th grade students at Conte Middle School last year, by becoming the program’s first corporate sponsors.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Berkshire Bank, Citizen’s Bank, Glenn Drohan, and The Transcript for supporting young writers in our community!
